About Auticilotherapy
"Acupuncture Without Needles"
Auriculotherapy is defined as a Healthcare modality in which the external surface of the ear, or auricle, is stimulated to alleviate pathological conditions in other parts of the body. The treatment does not involve needles. It is done gently, through the use of an Electro Stimulation machine. While originally based upon the ancient Chinese practice of Acupuncture, the correspondence of specific parts of the body, to specific points on the ear, was first developed in modern France.
Comparison of Ear Acupuncture to Body Acupuncture
1. Acupuncture points on the body can almost always be detected whether there is am imbalance in the meridian channels, whereas acupuncture points on the ear only appear when there is some kind of Physical or functional disorder in in the part of the body represented by that region of the ear. While the body Acupuncture points lie in the tendon and muscular region, deep below the skin surface, ear acupuncture points are located in the shallow depths of the skin itself.
3. Areas of lower skin resistance or higher skin conductance indicate that there is easy passage of electric current. A pathology in the body increases, so as the conductance in the flow of electricity. As the body organ becomes healthier, the electrodermal conductance of the corresponding ear point returns to normal level. Electrodermal point detection is one of the most reliable methods of diagnosing the location the location of an auricular point.
4. In both body and ear acupuncture, unilateral pathologies are represented by points on the same side of the body.
5. Auriculotherapy can remotely stimulate a part of the body that is too painful to treat directly. Although the ear is physically very small in size, it serves as a remote control affecting the gross anatomy of the body.
6. Once treatment is applied to the ear point, the patient's condition is immediately alleviated. Some patients however, have less defined and more diffuse pain making it difficult to convincingly demonstrate the immediate result of the treatment.
7. Many patients are afraid insertion of needles into the skin. As an alternative, ear points can be stimulated by Electrical Stimulation. Since ear acupuncture tends to work more quickly than body acupuncture, the ear points should be treated first.
8. Since every organ is represented in the external ear, auriculotherapy is considered to be a potential source of alleviating any disease.
9. Due to systemic release of endorphins, some patients become drowsy after the treatment.
10. Auricular diagnosis is best achieved with an electrical point finder.
While it is observably evident that ear is an organ of hearing, it is not at all obvious that it could relate to any other health conditions. The skeptics tend to view it as more of a magic than a form of medicine.
There is a bidirectional condition connection between ear points and the organ involved. Pathology in an organ is indicated by distinct changes in the skin in the corresponding point on the ear. Stimulating that point can produce changes in the corresponding part of the body.
